Welterweights Erick Silva and Brandon Thatch will meet in a possible loser leaves town fight, on September 24.
A clash of struggling welterweights has been added to UFC Fight Night 95, as Erick Silva will take on Brandon Thatch in what could be a loser-leaves-town kind of match.
Combate was first to report the news.
Winless in his last three outings, including losses to the likes of Siyar Bahadurzada, Gunnar Nelson and Benson Henderson, Brandon Thatch (11-4) has not scored a win since November 2013, when he finished Paulo Thiago with knees to the body. Prior to that, he TKO’d Justin Edwards in the first round of his promotional debut.
Once a prospect for Brazil in the welterweight division, Erick Silva was never able to put together more than two wins in a row in the Octagon, as he scored back to back submissions wins against Mike Rhodes and Josh Koscheck in December 2014 and March 2015. Since then, however, he lost a split decision to Neil Magny and was knocked out cold by Nordine Taleb in his last outing, in March 2016.
UFC Fight Night 95 is scheduled for September 24, in Brasilia, Brazil. Although no main event has been linked to the card yet, a couple of other bouts for the night include a pair lightweight fights with Francisco Trinaldo vs. Paul Felder and Stevie Ray vs. Alan Patrick.
