UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will reportedly make her next title defense against Brazilian Jessica Andrade on May 13th.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk has a challenger for her fifth defense of her UFC strawweight title, as Polish website Sport.pl reported she will take on the surging Brazilian, Jessica Andrade, at UFC 211. The UFC has not officially announced the matchup themselves.
Jedrzejczyk (13-0) has successfully defended her title four times in a row by beating Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, Claudia Gadelha, and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. She became the champion in March 2015, when she knocked out Carla Esparza to win the title. Her last three wins have all come by unanimous decision.
After an inconsistent run in the bantamweight division, Jessica Andrade (16-5) has found a home at 115, where she has been unstoppable since the drop. On a three-fight winning streak, Andrade scored wins over Joanne Calderwood, Jessica Penne, and the former Invicta FC champion, Angela Hill, most recently, on February 4th. After he Fight of the Night win over Hill, Dana White said that Andrade would “absolutely” be next in line for Jedrzejczyk.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her title against Jessica Andrade at UFC 211, in Dallas, Texas, on May 13. The pay-per-view card will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and the last man to beat him, Junior dos Santos.
