As expected, Frankie Edgar will still get his promised shot at the featherweight title. According to MMA Junkie, Edgar has been booked to meet champion Max Holloway at UFC 222 in Las Vegas. The UFC hasn’t confirmed the fight as of yet.
Edgar (22-5-1, 16-5-1 UFC) had previously been scheduled to fight Holloway in the main event of UFC 218 in December, but was forced out of the bout due to a facial injury. His replacement, former champion Jose Aldo, was stopped by Holloway in the third round of their bout.
Holloway (19-3, 15-3 UFC) is on a 12-fight winning streak overall and defended his full title for the first time with the second win over Aldo. He initially defeated Anthony Pettis for an interim title, unified it with his first win over Aldo, then cemented things with his second defeat of the Brazilian.
UFC 222 goes down on March 3rd in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It’s unclear at this point whether this fight will headline the card, or if another title fight will be added to the event.
