Undefeated super bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Rey Vargas (34-0, 22 KO’s), hopes to return to the ring soon, as he went a year without fighting… his last fight was on July 13, 2019, when he defeated the Japanese Tomoki Kameda by decision.
“So much downtime is not something any champion wants. I hope to be up in the ring as soon as possible, defending the title. I am waiting for my promoters to give me a date and a rival. We are already in talks, doors are already opening, and as soon as they tell me I will be defending my title, ” said Vargas.
Rey, who has remained active and busy in the gym, was crowned champion in February 2017 by defeating the Englishman Gavin McDonnell in Yorkshire, by unanimous decision and has successfully defended his belt five times.
