The Clash for the vacant WBC super bantamweight championship holds no fears for Rey Vargas, even though it’s a Big Mac challenge, in chilly England, and on ice!
Rey who’s undefeated fights England’s unbeaten Gavin McDonnell at The Ice Arena in Hull, for the main course, NOT the pudding, even if it’s of the Yorkshire variety.
At the WBC’s weekly press conference, Rey’s principal Trainer Hall of Fame, wily, astute and brilliant Nacho Beristain described this match up as well made, and simultaneously predicted a difficult fight ahead, but victory for Rey, for whom he feels a great responsibility.
Rey relishes the February 25th fight, bluntly stating that it’s his job to produce in the ring on the night.
Rey isn’t worried about fighting in Gavin’s back yard expressing full confidence in the WBC Judges’ objectivity and impartiality, if…the fight goes the full distance.
He stressed: “I’m motivated, but I’m also prepared to be patient. He’s at home, I’m at his home. I’m not in the least intimidated. I am totally determined!”
