The San Antonio showdown between Mikey Garcia and Sergey Lipinets may have a solid supporting cast. Lightweight contenders Richard Commey and Alejandro Luna have come to terms for an IBF eliminator and are looking to join the February 10th card.

The winner will become the mandatory challenger for Robert Easter Jr., who was on the shortlist to fight Garcia.

Commey (25-2, 22 KO) was supposed to fight Roman Andreev earlier this month, but Andreev promoter Vlad Hrunov failed to put the agreed-upon sum into escrow, forcing the IBF to look elsewhere for an opponent. Commey bounced back from consecutive close losses to Easter and Denis Shafikov with a decision over Hedi Slimani in March.

Luna (22-0, 15 KO) is a young prospect who’s done well for himself against the middle of the division, but figures to be the underdog against the big-punching Ghanaian. Still, every prospect’s gotta step up sometime and this is a great opportunity for him.
