If Guillermo Rigondeaux has any concerns about moving up in weight to challenge Vasyl Lomachenko next weekend on ESPN, he’s surely not showing it. In fact the Cuban champion is completely confident he’ll be able to deal with anything Lomachenko brings to the table and said during a conference call, captured by RingTV, that fans should expect the same.

“It is going to be a masterpiece. People should anticipate a masterpiece,” Rigondeaux, 37, said through manager Alex Boronte on a conference call Wednesday.”… I am not worried at all.

“The one that has to worry is Lomachenko. I am fine and I will do what I need to do when I get in the ring. I don’t worry too much what people think. I have my power every time I step in the ring.”

So for all the talk of Lomachenko just being too big for him, Rigondeaux doesn’t make anything of it, saying that he tried and tried to make the fight happen at 126lbs but Lomachenko was only willing to come to the table once he felt he had an advantage over him. So it may not be Rigondeaux’s ideal weight class, but it’s Hakuna Matata.
