MANILA, Philippines – The newly-formed Ferlenski Boxing Promotion is staging its inaugural boxing card dubbed as the “Ring Wars” on July 16 at 1 p.m. at the Robinson’s Mall in General Santos City.
Lady boxing promoter Aileen Syskowski said the main event will feature comebacking Jonel “Kid Pacquiao” Dapidran of Digos City against Christian Rupa in an 8-rounder.
The 18-year old Dapidran, who is undefeated with six straight wins, three by knockout, is now managed by Syskowski, a Filipina married to a German mixed martial arts enthusiast.
In his last fight, Dapidran won by a unanimous decision against Hagibis Quinones last November 8, 2014 at the Almendras gym in Davao City.
Rupa, on the other hand, is also making a comeback with five wins and two loses.
In his last fight, Rupa suffered a third round knockout from Sonny “Pinoy Hearns” Katiandagho last March 10, 2012 at the Jaro Plaza Gym in Iloilo City.
Katiandagho, who is now the reigning WBC Youth World super lightweight champion Sonny “Pinoy Hearns” Katiandagho will fight for the vacant WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council welterweight crown on July 9 in China against the undefeated Armenian Rafik Harutjunjan.
The undercard of the Ring Wars will have two 4-rounders pitting young fighters from Gensan against Malungon, Sarangani Province.
Rey Mark Ibones faces Romel Padayhag while Jimbo Namion takes on Mark Glen Antaran both in the 112 lbs. division.
“There will also be exciting amateur bouts,” said Syskowski.
