Promoter Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) announced that an agreement has been reached with Titov Promotions for the fight between the bridgerweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Colombian Oscar Rivas (28-1-0, 22 KOs), and his mandatory challenger, undefeated Russian Evgeny Romanov (16-0, 11 KOs).

“We are very happy for this fight to take place. I would like to thank Mr. Alex Titov for his cooperation. We intend to hold this world championship in June, in Montreal or possibly Colombia. For us it is important that Oscar defends his crown in a family environment, ”said Canadian promoter Yvon Michel.

Rivas from Colombia, who represented his country at the 2008 Olympic Games, became the first WBC world champion in the history of the bridgerweight division, conquering the title on October 22, defeating Ryan Rozicki (13-1, 13 KOs) by UD in Montreal.

“I am happy to be able to defend my belt on familiar ground. I intend to keep this belt for a long time. I feel confident and surrounded by the best,” commented the champion.

Romanov became the mandatory contender by defeating his compatriot Dmitry Kudryashov (24-5, 23 KOs) over 12 rounds last May in Khimki, Russia.
