HARD-PUNCHING Al “The Machine Gun” Rivera knocked out challenger Adones Cabalquinto in 2:04 of the second round to retain his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super lightweight crown last Nov. 25 at the Brunswick Commercial Center in Santa Rosa City, Laguna.
It was Rivera’s 17th win and 15th by knockout against only 2 losses while Cabalquinto suffered his 3rd defeat against 23 wins.
It was also the first title-defense by the 23-year old southpaw from Santa Rosa City.
Rivera first beat Cabalquinto of MP Davao Gym also by a 2nd round knockout in a non-title bout last November 13, 2015 at the Navy Gym in Taguig City.
Rivera then captured the vacant OPBF title last February 11 by stopping Shinya Iwabuchi in the 7th round at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
