Fresh faced, yet hard hitting undefeated World Boxing Council Youth Super featherweight champion Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez KO`d Rolando “Smooth Operator” Magbanua in less than a round, with the classic Mexican left hook to the liver, at the Municipal Arts Center in Cuidad Juarez.
Rolando (26-6-1, 18 KO`s) started fast and aggressive with a series of left uppercuts, trying to concentrate on head shots. Utilizing increasing patience and guile, leading to the savvy of maturity, meticulously taught by former world champion Isaac “Tortas” Bustos, who was in his corner, Rocky (23-0-3, 19 KO`s) slipped most of the punches, moved inside and then threw a cluster of his own left hooks, culminating in the perfect body shot embodying pinpoint precision and pulverizing power.
Like a boulder crushing a pebble, It dropped Rolando hard on to the set of his trunks. Wincing in discomfort to put it mildly, he managed to rouse himself on to one knee, but that`s where he remained almost atrophied, as New Mexico Referee Rocky Burke counted him out. KO time was 2.24.
While a beaming Rocky climbed the ropes to be saluted by an enthusiastic crowd, Rolando the “Smooth” Operator, who`d had a brief but rather rough night of it, cut a lonely figure leaving the ring and trudging to the changing room, still sore and shell shocked by the way in which he`d been summarily dispatched.
