“Rocky” scythes “Machete”

By WBCBoxing.com

World Boxing Council Youth super featherweight champion and undefeated KO artist, Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernandez blazingly confirmed his status as a leading contender for the grown up crown, after blasting out dangerous Colombian Luis ‘Machete’ Díaz in two rounds at a packed Sala de Armas in Mexico city.

The spectacular card was a mega production of Promociones del Pueblo with the support of Cavall Sport, Playboy Mexico and Pronósticos for Public Assistance, and it  reached millions of homes live through the Televisa Deportes screens in its traditional Saturday night transmission.

Aware and wary of Rocky`s huge tiger like power, Machete cut a cautious and careful figure, sticking out the left glove. But many of them were dabs rather than jabs, out of range or were deflected off the 20 year old`s held high gloves.  Rocky didn`t waste time sizing up his opponent.  Rather,  he cut the distance and cutting the Colombian down to size, landed thudding hooks and uppercuts with both hands.  Machete was badly hurt at the end of the opening round.

In round two the taller Machete again tried to use the left jab but was stung by a well placed counter left hook. Then, a massive left hook dropped him, pitching him face forward.  Machete bravely beat the count.  But he was further blunted by bludgeoning blows.  A powerful right hook dropped him yet again, and experienced Referee Lupe Garcia saved him, stopping the fight at two minutes and forty five seconds.  Referee Lupe Garcia guided a visibly and dazed Machete who was wobbling on unsteady cotton wool legs, back to the safety of the stool in his corner to recover. He`d been utterly overwhelmed!

Rocky is now seeking a fight with Francisco “Bandido” Vargas to settle who`s going to fight the winner of the match between WBC super featherweight champion Miguel “Alacran” Berchelt and Miguel “Mickey” Roman.

In an entertaining female light flyweight contest Lourdes ‘La Pequeña Lulú’ Juárez comprehensively defeated  brave Gabriela ‘Bonita’ Sánchez via UD.

The younger sister of the WBC champion Mariana ‘Barby’ Juarez dominated from start to finish  with an accurate left jab plus accurate combinations. Lulu`s work rate was visibly superior, especially as the fight wore on and her greater speed was evident. All three Judges scored the fight for her.
