Ángel Rodríguez was the great protagonist of the first set of the “Maratón Boxística” event by getting a spectacular KO with a hook to the liver to Derlinson Buriel in the fourth round, during the event supported by the World Boxing Association (WBA).
The beaches of Puerto Colombia and the brilliant afternoon sun brightened up a great duel of Venezuelans in the Super Featherweight division, in which Rodriguez’s left uppercut left his compatriot breathless, thus closing the first set of fights of the marathon day.
In the first fight of the afternoon, Colombian debutant Kevin Piedrahita won by KO in the second round against Edinson Alvarez. Another outstanding performance was Paulina Angel, who showed her talent with good combinations to knock out Rocío Argel in the first round.
The members of the Venezuela National Team, who made their debut this evening, also won by way of KO. Super lightweight Cristian Palacio took advantage of the power of his right hand to dispatch Barranquilla’s Jeison Ortega by TKO, while Nalek Korbaj, who made his debut in the cruiserweight, brutally knocked out Juan Guerra with a left hook to the jaw.
Jeovanis “Meke” Barraza won the 22nd victory of his career in the Super-Welterweight division after his opponent, Jose Agustin Feria, dropped out at the fifth round. On his part, Alejandro Múnera defeated Yogli Herrera by a split decision and the fight between Venezuelan Kelvinyer Salazar and Colombian Luis Díaz Mármol ended without decision due to an accidental headbutt that hurt the eyebrow of the former.
In the second part of the event, great talents are expected to be presented, especially the main fight between Venezuelan Gabriel Maestre and Mexican Daniel Vega.
