In a clash between world ranked super flyweight contenders, WBO #15 Ricardo “Meserito” Rodriguez (14-3-4, 4 KOs) of Mexico City scored a hard fought ten round unanimous decision over WBO #14 David “Dabo” Quijano (16-6-1, 9 KOs) of Caguas, PR, on Friday night at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. Rodriguez was bleeding heavily from a cut on the side of his head for most the fight, but came away with a 98-92 verdict on all three cards. The WBO Latino belt was on the line in the bout.
Undefeated 21-year-old welterweight prospect “Hurricane” Sammy Valentin (7-0, 5 KOs) of Tampa outhustled Philly fighter Greg Jackson (6-3, 2 KOs) over six rounds, winning 60-54 across the board.
