Roman Gonzalez struggling to acquire visa

Badlefthook.com

Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez was originally set to make his return on May 5th, taking on tough veteran Pedro Guevara as part of the Gennady Golovkin-Canelo Alvarez II card. Then shenanigans happened, and now it looks as though we’ll be waiting even longer for the pound-for-pound great’s return, as Nicaragua’s “instability” is keeping him from getting a work visa to compete in the U.S.

Ignore the rampant capitalization in the title. WBN is a good source; they’ve just taken a turn for the clickbait recently.

Gonzalez (46-2, 38 KO) also needs to undergo a brain assessment from the California State Athletic Commission before he can be licensed, but since he needs to be in the U.S. to have that done, the visa remains the core issue.

The super flyweight division is going strong, and even after that worrying performance against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai last time out, I’m still eager to see where Gonzalez fits in it. May he smash bureaucracy as he has so many faces.
