Juarez idol Miguel “Mickey” Román plans to launch an historic onslaught on December 9th, in his quest to become the first world champion from Ciudad Juarez, but to do so he must defeat formidable Orlando ‘Siri’ Salido.
‘Mickey who debuted as a child in boxing and who is about to undertake his 70th fight as a professional; is training in Maywood, California, led by Rudy Hernández.
Rather than feeling pressure, he insists he’s motivated to buffet in order to justify his tag as a history buff, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas
“It’s something that I have pending with all Juarenses, and that is to conquer the WBC title. Ciudad Juarez is a land of hardworking people and people who enjoy when I fight. I have many followers in my land and I would like to give them the joy of having a world champion.
“We have been working hard, without battling for weight and eating well. The super featherweight division is my natural weight and I hope that all that work is noticed in the ring, which is where I like to talk.”
