Tweet of the Day: Ronda Rousey had nice words about the UFC 223 co-main event.
Even with her Wrestlemania debut coming up, it looks like Ronda Rousey spent some time watching the two best female strawweights throw down during UFC 223. Considered as a pioneer and the former “face of women’s MMA,” Rousey praised both Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk for representing the sport well.
She took to social media about it:
“I felt satisfied that I’d proven everything I need to prove, but I didn’t feel anybody else felt that way, and I wasn’t sure if the women’s division could survive without me,” Rousey told ESPN. “I felt obligated to do more than what I actually wanted to. But I also have no regrets, and I’m so happy I fulfilled those obligations. And I really feel the women’s division can hold their own.”
It was a nice sentiment from Rousey, but at the same time, I also wonder if she would’ve extended the same courtesy to former rivals and current champions in Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes, who are both representing the sport well too. Probably not, but it’s nice to see the new WWE star still tipping her hat to her former colleagues.
