Ronny Rios is highly motivated for his first world title opportunity this August 26 when he challenges Mexico’s Rey Vargas for the World Boxing Council’s super bantamweight belt at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Ríos, 27, with an impressive record of 28 wins, 13 KO´s and a single defeat, will challenge Vargas for the crown in the 122-pound division.

Vargas (29 -0, 22 KO’s) conquered the belt in March by defeating British Gavin McDonell.

The Californian is a former WBC silver champion. Now he’s climbing to the super bantamweight division with the firm intention of becoming the new green and gold champion.

Ronny arrives at this combat with the confidence of his training camp. He also has experience as he has fought Rico Ramos and Jayson Velez.

This match will be part of the card starring Miguel Cotto vs. Japanese Yoshihiro Kamegai.
