Since Rory MacDonald made his Bellator debut against Paul Daley last year, ‘The Red King’ has made it known that he wants to become the promotion’s first ever simultaneous two-division champion.
MacDonald, a former UFC welterweight title challenger, beat Douglas Lima for the Bellator 170-pound strap at Bellator 192 this past January and wants to move up to the middleweight division in pursuit of another world title.
Former UFC contender Gegard Mousasi, who will challenge Rafael Carvalho for the Bellator middleweight championship at Bellator 200, thinks MacDonald’s style is ‘perfect’ for him and predicts the Canadian will ‘get his ass kicked’ when he moves up to 185 pounds.
MacDonald, 28, responded to ‘The Dreamcatcher’ on Twitter and said he would like to fight the winner of Carvalho vs. Mousasi after he defends the welterweight title, preferably at Bellator 200.

i agree to fight the winner of @RafaCarvalhoMMA vs @mousasi_mma for their middleweight championship after i defend my title at 170, hopefully it will go down the same night at bellator 200
MacDonald suffered a nasty shin injury in his title fight against Lima but the Canadian will probably be fully recovered by the time Bellator 200 rolls around on May 25. The pay-per-view is scheduled to take place at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London, and will feature the middleweight championship clash between Carvalho and Mousasi in the main event.
