Roy Jones Jr’s 75th — and he says final — professional fight is set, as the 49-year-old former pound-for-pound king will face Scott Sigmon on February 8 in Pensacola, Florida, Jones’ hometown.

Sigmon (30-11-1, 16 KO) is a natural middleweight who last fought just north of light heavyweight, and will move to cruiserweight to face Jones. If his name rings any bells from you, it’s because he’s been in the ring with some notable fighters: Kelly Pavlik faced him during his aborted comeback run in 2012, and Sigmon has also lost in recent years to Caleb Truax, J’Leon Love, and Matt Korobov, among others.

As for Jones (65-9, 47 KO), the original release was pretty careful only to say that it would be his final fight in Pensacola, but he’s now being quite clear: this is it for Jones.

“Y’all must’ve forgot. I always said that my final fight would be in my hometown of Pensacola. I meant it then, and I mean it now. This is where it all began for me. This will be my 75th professional fight, and it will be my last one.”

Hopefully, he sticks to his word.
