World Boxing Council featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. (27-1, 16 KOs) presented the WBC requIred 30 days weigh-in, prior to his second crown defense, on May 20.
The bout will be held at the MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland against Interim division champion Oscar Escandón (25-2, 17 KO’s).
This will be Russell Jr.’s second defense of the title he won with a fourth round knockout victory over former champion Jhonny Gonzalez in March 2015.
Escandón won the WBC interim title last year, defeating Mexican Robinson Castellanos with a seventh-round knockout.
Russell Jr weighed 130 pounds, confirming his optimum peaking condition for this combat.
