The card being rustled up by TGB Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions on Saturday, May 19 at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, Maryland, has a “Familial” feel about it.
In the main event Gary Russell, Jr. (28-1, 17 KO’s) will defend his World Boxing Council featherweight championship against undefeated No. 1 contender Joseph “JoJo” Diaz, Jr. (26-0, 14 KO’s) . It’ll be televised live on Showtime.
Russell’s brothers, Antonio and Antuanne, will also have action the same night, to make it a fighting trio.
Antonio (10-0, eight KO’s) will fight eight rounds for the first time when he faces Esteban Aquino of the Dominican Republic (12-4, seven KO’s). Antonio Russell fought for the last time on November 21 and scored a technical knockout in the first round against Marco Antonio Mendoza.
Antuanne Russell, after just five bouts (5-0, five knockouts), takes on Wilmer Rodriguez of Dominican Republic (9-2, seven knockouts). Russell comes from landing a third round TKO over Andrew Rodgers on March 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
