A lightweight matchup between Rustam Khabilov and Desmond Green has been booked for UFC Rotterdam.
The UFC’s September 2nd return trip to Rotterdam in the Netherlands is slowly but surely filling up with new fights, of which the most notable one is a lightweight battle between Rustam Khabilov and Desmond Green.
Khabilov (21-3) has quietly won four straight since suffering back-to-back losses to Benson Henderson and Adriano Martins. All of his victories have come by unanimous decision, including against Canada’s Jason Saggo at last December’s UFC 206 in Toronto. His biggest victory to date was an entertaining unanimous decision over Jorge Masvidal in November 2013.
Green (20-5) made his Octagon debut at UFC 210, winning by split decision against Josh Emmett. The former Titan FC featherweight champion has taken fights at catchweights, lightweight, and welterweight in recent outings, but it looks like he’s established himself at 155 for the long term. Green is seeking to extend his winning streak to six.
Also booked (but not officially confirmed) for the same division is Islam Makhachev against Michel Prazeres. Makhachev (14-1) has rebounded nicely from his KO loss to Adriano Martins with back-to-back triumphs over Chris Wade and Nik Lentz. Prazeres (22-2) turned in a terrific performance against Josh Burkman in March, winning by north-south choke after beating him up with strikes almost from the very beginning of the contest.
Other fights confirmed are all in the light heavyweight division: Marcos Rogerio de Lima and Saparbek Safarov, Francimar Barroso vs. Aleksandar Rakic, and Abdul Kerim-Edilov vs. Bojan Mihajlovic. UFC officials announced these bouts earlier in the week.
UFC Fight Night: Rotterdam is headlined by a heavyweight clash between the Netherlands’ down Stefan Struve and Russia’s Alexander Volkov. The entire card will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.
