Sabina Mazo will soon enter the LFA cage as a champion for the very first time in her career.
The Colombian fighter has been scheduled to defend her women’s flyweight title against Jaimee Nievera in the main event of LFA 51, which is set to go down on Sept. 28 at the Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif. This will be the first time a women’s bout headlines an LFA card.
The news of the booking was recently announced by the promotion.
Mazo captured the vacant women’s flyweight belt, previously held by current UFC fighter Andrea Lee, last April with a unanimous decision win over Shannon Sinn. The 21-year-old Mazo is undefeated in professional MMA career being 5-0 with two first-round head kick KO finishes. She trains out of Kings MMA in California.
Meanwhile, Mazo’s challenger, Nievera, is 7-4 as a professional fighter. She was last seen in action back in June where she was stopped by Antonina Shevchenko at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. The loss to Shevchenko snapped a three-fight win streak for Nievera.
Additionally, the following match ups were announced for the main card of LFA 51:
- Gustavo Erak vs. Cody Gibson
- Nohelin Hernandez vs. Rolando Velasco
- Andres Alcantar vs. Jordan Powell
- Salaiman Ahmadyar vs. Joaquin Lopez
