SALVANA VS. NAKAGAWA IN JAPAN DEC. 19

HARD hitting Markquil “Gunz” Salvana of Sanman Promotions will be fighting Japanese fighter Yuta Nakagawa on December 19 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
It will be Salvana’s fourth outing for this year. His first assignment in 2017 was a 2nd round technical knockout win over JP Macadumpis to capture the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight title on March 12 at the T’boli Municipal gym in T’boli, South Cotabato.
The 21-year old native of Cagayan de Oro City later scored a 1st round knockout win against Alvin Bais on June 10 at the Robinson’s Mall in Gen. Santos City.
Salvana (13W-4L-0D, 7 KOs), however, was stopped in the 4th round by former Japanese champion Shota Hayashi last Sept. 3 at the Aioi Hall in Kariya.
Nakagawa (21W-5L-1D, 12 KOs), on the other hand, is also coming from a split decision loss to fellow Japanese Yasutaka Ishimoto last Nov. 4 at the Korakuen Hall.
Nakagawa’s last victory was a 1st round stoppage against Thailand’s Chirawat Mabai last July 10. Nakagawa has already fought and beaten all three Filipino boxers in the past.
He won by unanimous decisions against Monico Laurente (2014) and Dado Cabintoy (2015) both at the Korakuen Hall.
His last Filipino victim was Jonathan Ligas by a majority decision held last year at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
“Ayokong maging ika-apat na Pinoy na matatalo niya. Kaya’t sisiguruhin kong manalo laban sa kanya,” (I don’t want to be the 4th Filipino to loose on him. That’s why I will make sure that I will win against him), said Salvana. (LITO DELOS REYES)
