Sampson Boxing signs Sebastian Fundora, 6’7” junior middleweight

“The Towering Inferno” is the newest prospect signed by Sampson Lewkowicz.

Sampson Lewkowicz is known to have an eye for talent, and now he’s bringing a true project into his promotional ranks, as Sampson Boxing has signed Sebastian Fundora, a California junior middleweight prospect.

That seems ho-hum enough, except Fundora, nicknamed “The Towering Inferno,” is 6’7”. That’s not a typo. 6’7”, fighting at 154 pounds.

Lewkowicz admits he had some skepticism about Fundora (8-0, 4 KO), a 20-year-old southpaw, but that he matched him against some opposition he thought could expose him, and was impressed.

“I thought he would be too frail against better competition,” said Lewkowicz. “But he barely lost a round in his last four fights. Sebastian is nearly impossible to fight at this weight, with his reach and southpaw stance. And he took enough shots for me to see that he also has a world-class chin. He is going to be a major factor in the division very soon and I’m happy to have signed him to my stable.”

Fundora’s last three fights have been in Argentina, Uruguay, and Mexico, so he’s been willing to go abroad to get noticed.

”I am fortunate to have met and signed with a great boxing promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, who has exciting plans for my future and who will guide me to conquer the dream of becoming world champion,” said Fundora. “I have trained all my life to become a world champion, step-by-step and day-by-day. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

We’ll see what the future holds indeed for Fundora, but at the very least, it should be fun to see him try to make his way up the ladder, towering over his opponents all the way.
