Sampson Boxing LLC will host a world-class boxing night with a fistful of accomplished fighters at the Punta del Este Convention Center, Uruguay on Saturday.
In the main event bout, fourteenth ranked World Boxing Council welterweight, Cesar Miguel “La Joya” Barrionuevo (31-3-2, 21 KOs), of Catamarca, Argentina, fights Oscar “El Estudiante” Meza 28-7, 23 KOs) of Sinaloa, Mexico, for the WBC Latin welterweight championship.
Barrionuevo knocked out Panamanian Azael Cosio in five rounds last year. The popular Argentine boxer was supposed to fight against undefeated Sammy Vásquez.But Vásquez preferred to face Olympic medalist Felix Diaz and lost a unanimous decision.
There will be a battle of unbeaten former Olympian and highly decorated amateur Alberto “Beto” Palmetta (3-0, 1 KO) of Buenos Aires and Octavio Ezequiel “Dynamita” (6-0, 2 KOs) of Salta.
The bout will be televised by TyC Sports in Argentina, Latin America and the United States and thorugh VTV in Uruguay.
