SANCHEZ TO FIGHT WBO YOUTH CHAMP IN RUSSIA

VETERAN international fighter Ernie Sanchez of General Santos City is now in Russia for a non-title fight against undefeated WBO Youth lightweight champion Mukkhammadkhuja Yaqubov on Sept. 9 at the Traktor Sport Palace in Chelyabinsk.
Sanchez, who is managed by Brico Santig has a record of 17 wins with 8 knockouts against nine losses and one draw. He will be fighting the 22-year old Yaqubov (8-0, 5 KOs) in 8 rounds.
The 25-year old fighter from Highland Boxing Gym won his last two fights all by knockouts. He first stopped Richard Betos only in the first round last February 26 at the Lagao Gym in Gensan.
He previously pummeled to submission Hurricane Futa via a 5th round TKO last April 29 at the Sangyo Hall in Kanazawa, Japan.
Sanchez has also fought in six other championships. However, he dropped five of them and had only one draw.
He lost by a UD to Liquan Lin for the vacant IBO Asia Pacific lightweight title in Fuging, China; OPBF super featherweight champion Masayuki Ito by 11th round TKO in Korakuen Hall, Japan; Sergey Lipinets by 8th round TKO for the vacant WBC International Silver super lightweight title in Moscow; WBC Youth Silver super bantamweight champion Rey Vargas by UD in Chihuahua; WBC Silver super bantamweight champion Andres Gutierrez by UD in Queretaro; Robert Kopa Palue by UD for the interim WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title in Maumere; and PBF featherweight champion Edgar Gabejan by UD in Maigo.
Yaqubov, on the other hand, previously retained his WBO Youth lightweight crown via a first round TKO win over Japanese challenger Daiki Ichikawa last July 29 at the DIVS, Ekaterinburg.
He won the vacant WBO title by retiring Feruzbek Yuldashev in the 4th round last May 2 at the Dom Pechati, Ekaterinburg.
Yaqubov also won the WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental lightweight title via a unanimous decision against Yogli Herrera last February 18 at the Traktor Sports Palace.
