WBA featherweight world champion Leo Santa Cruz (32-0-1, 18 KOs) and former jr featherweight champion Carl Frampton (22-0, 14 KOs) met face-to-face for the first time on the 86th floor Observatory atop the iconic Empire State Building. Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan (from base to antenna), the fighters shared the spotlight with a coin-operated binocular rather than the New York City skyline in the photo op.
Santa Cruz and Frampton will meet again under less friendly circumstances on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Their world championship fight marks both Santa Cruz and Frampton’s first fight in the “Big Apple.” Showtime will televise.
