SANTIG IS AGAIN WBC ASIA PROMOTER OF THE YEAR

FILIPINO international boxing promoter Brico Santig of the Highland Promotions will again be receiving the “World Boxing Council Asia Honorary Promoter of the Year” in this year’s WBC Asia Awards.
It will be the fifth award of Santig, who already earned the prestigious recognition since 2012.
“Pasalamat ako dahil nabibigyan pansin ang ating ginagawa,” (I am grateful for being given the attention of what we do) said Santig.
Santig, who is based in La Trinidad, Benguet will receive his award during the WBC Asia/WBC Muaythai Press Conference and annual Award presentation on May 24 at the Asia Hotel in Ratchathewee in Bangkok, Thailand.
Santig had a total of eight promotions held around the country last year. The last event was held December 3 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan featuring the title fight for the vacant WBC International flyweight crown between Ardin Diale and Michael Enriquez. It was co-promoted by the United Boxing Promotions of Japanese promoter Ryuta Kato.
The 41-year old Santig also co-promoted with Kato the double championship fight last June 10 in Mandaluyong City for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver flyweight title (Masazumi Furukawa vs. Geboi Mansalayao ) and vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental female minimumweight title (Erika Hanawa vs. Christine Latube).
Santig also partnered with Thailand’s Naris Singwancha for the double championship fights in the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) titles last April 1, 2016 in Bacolod City featuring Rey Megrino against Jonathan Baat for the interim OPBF bantamweight crown) and Rene Dacquel versus Ratthapon Sawangsoda for the interim OPBF super flyweight title.
