Victor Santillan won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecaribe Bantamweight title by defeating Mexican Jose Valdes this weekend. The Dominican won a unanimous decision thanks to a good demonstration of quality at Gimnasio Estancio, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Santillan, 25, was going into his first fight for a regional belt and defeated an international opponent in the main fight of the evening organized by Shuan Boxing.
The southpaw fighter gets an important victory that will help him climb up the WBA ranking, where he is currently ranked 11th.
He now has 10 wins, no losses, and 3 KOs. Valdes, meanwhile, has a record of 9 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw, and 4 KOs.
