Scott Quigg readily admits that Carl Frampton was the better fighter on the night when they faced off for the first time in early 2016. But now, just a couple of years later, the British fighter believes he deserves a second bite at the apple, saying he’s willing to step in to face Frampton in his hometown this summer.
“Everybody knows I’d jump at that fight and August 18 I’d be more than ready to take that fight,” Quigg told Sky Sports News.
“There’s no other fight out there that could really be at Windsor Park, it’s as simple as that and I’m available. I’ve always wanted the rematch and I believe I could beat him, but I doubt I’ll get the phone call.”
Quigg is most recently coming off a decision loss to Oscar Valdez this past March which took a real physical toll on both fighters. Valdez, although the winner on paper, walked away from that fight with his jaw broken and wired shut while Quigg had his nose broken and disfigured.
If Quigg were able to secure a rematch with Frampton he says it would provide him with an opportunity to prove all his naysayers wrong.
