Sebastian Diaz makes Telemundo debut Friday

WBC FECOMBOX super featherweight titleholder Sebastian Diaz (12-2, 10 KOs) of Aguas Calientes, Mexico, faces WBO #11 rated Latin beltholder Carlos “Fino” Ruiz (15-2, 5 KOs) in the Boxeo Telemundo Ford 10 round main event this Friday at the Plaza Condesa Auditorium in Mexico City. Diaz enters the fight with a four-fight win streak and will be making his Telemundo debut.What do you know about Ruiz?

He uses his legs well and has good movement. It’s going to be an interesting fight.

Ruiz seems to think his experience of having fought and won outside of Mexico will work in his favor against you. Your thoughts?

He has a lot of experience. There’s no doubt about that. I’m doing my part in training and working on all possible scenarios like I do in all my fights. I’m ready for this fight both physically and mentally.

Ruiz also feels that you will find it difficult to corner him during the fight. What is your take on that?

He should be real careful thinking that way. I know how to cut the ring off and can get to him.

There are likely going to be moments when you both will exchange. Is this when you feel you will be most effective?

I’m training with the best like I am sure he is. If we’re going to exchange or box I’m ready for either. Winning is my objective and I won’t be denied victory.

How important is it for you to shine in your Telemundo debut?

It’s extremely important and a huge opportunity for me. Many people will get to see me for the first time. I’m so happy how everything is going for me. I am a person who has a lot of faith in God. My goal in boxing is to become a world champion and not to just stop there but to take it to an even higher level than that.
