A pair of young bantamweight fighters are headed to Minessota for a fight with fireworks potential. UFC officials announced on Wednesday that Sergio Pettis will square off against up-and-coming Brazilian prospect Ricardo Ramos at UFC Minneapolis, on June 29.
Currently on a two-fight losing skid, Sergio Pettis (17-5) moved back up to the bantamweight division in his last outing after an eight-fight stint at flyweight, but was welcomed with a unanimous decision loss to Rob Font this past December. Before the Font loss, the 25-year-old also dropped a decision to flyweight contender Jussier Formiga in October, which makes his last Octagon win a split decision over Joseph Benavidez at UFC 225 in June.
After three successful outings in his UFC career, in which he defeated the likes of Michinori Tanaka, Aiemann Zahabi and most recently Kyung Ho Kang last August, Ricardo Ramos (12-2) suffered his first Octagon defeat when Said Nurmagomedov beat the 23-year-old via TKO.
UFC Minneapolis will be headlined by a rematch between former welterweight champions Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler. The main card airs live on ESPN television.
