Shannon Wiratchai Impresses In Macao With Quick Knockout Win

Top lightweight contender Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai of Thailand continued his meteoric rise through the ranks with another spectacular first-round knockout victory, this time over India’s Rajinder Singh “Knockout”Meena in a catch weight bout.

The Bangkok Fight Lab product authored one of his quickest finishes yet, landing a right knee flush to Meena’s head from the clinch. Referee Olivier Coste wasted no time in calling a halt to the contest once he realized Meena was no longer competitive. The end came officially at 29 seconds of round number one, and is the fastest finish of Wiratchai’s career.

As soon as the bell rang to begin the bout, Wiratchai met Meena at the center of the cage looking to engage. The Thai warrior, known for his unorthodox and highly-unpredictable striking technique, wasted no time in taking the action right to the Indian national.

In a quick turn of events, Wiratchai caught Meena in the clinch and delivered the bout-ending sequence, utilizing his Muay Thai artillery.

Moments before Wiratchai stepped into the cage, his girlfriend Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige took to the ONE Championship cage, figuring in a shock defeat as she was upset by the Philippines’ Jomary Torres.

However, during Wiratchai’s always-entertaining walkouts – this time as the Monkey King – Ishige was seen trailing in his entourage, all smiles and ready to support the Thai star.

After original opponent “Ruthless” Rob Lisita of Australia pulled out of the bout due to personal issues, Meena stepped in as a late replacement. The Indian proved no match for Wiratchai, however, who has steadily improved over his last few contests.

With the victory, Wiratchai improves his professional record to 8-1 while Meena drops to 8-7. It was Wiratchai’s sixth-straight victory, and another awesome showcase of his incredible striking prowess.
