Former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32 KOs) is ready for the next chapter of his professional career and by the looks of things his seems very determined to get back to the top. The oldest son of the Mexico’s greatest fighter stepped in the scale Friday in Monterrey and weigh-in at 167.8, well under the contract weight of 169 pounds and also under the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds.

“For me, it’s not just about making weight but feeling good and knowing that I am going to be ready to give it my all in the ring tomorrow night. I worked really hard getting ready for his fight and I am really looking forward to getting into the ring again,” said Chavez Jr.

Chavez Jr. will take on Dominick Britsch (32-2-1, 11 KOs) who was 167.5 pounds, in the 10 round main event this Saturday in a card promoted by Zanfer Promotions in the Monterrey Arena and that will be televised in the United States by BeIN Sports Español at 11:00 p.m. Eastern/8:00 p.m. Pacific.

Chavez Jr., of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico the former World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion is coming back after a 17-month layoff and will be seeking the 50th victory of his career.

“For me, this milestone in my career is very important. Getting my 50th win is something that I will always cherish. I know is not an easy fight. Britsch is coming to win and just like me he will give his all on Saturday night,” said Chavez Jr.

His return to fight in Mexico is also very special. “I fought in Monterrey early in my career and I always wanted to come back and fight here. It’s a great city and I hope to give the fans a fight they will remember for a long time. I have fought in Mexico for a long time and is great to come back home and fight.”=

Junior’s father, the greatest fighter in Mexican history, was smiling from ear to ear to see his son make the weight.

“My son did not kill himself this time around and that will make him a better fighter in the ring. I am very proud of his work during this training camp and I look forward to seen him take home the victory,” said Chavez Sr.
