Dejan Zlaticanin captures the WBC lightweight title by stopping Franklin Mamani in the third round.
Dejan Zlaticanin won the vacant WBC lightweight world title tonight by beating Franklin Mamani in three rounds. Mamani, who took the fight on eleven days notice, was hurt early and often before the referee had to step in to call a halt to the bout.
Mamani got shook up badly in the opening 30 seconds of the fight, then hurt again in the second, and hurt even worse in the third round where Zlaticanin poured on the pressure leaving Mamani defenseless. It was clear for anyone watching the fight that Mamani was a in over his head in this fight, as Zlaticanin strafed Mamani with hard shots from the opening bell right up until the stoppage.
There isn’t much to say about this fight, other than they probably could’ve found some stiffer competition for Zlaticanin in a title fight. Be that as it may, you have a new lightweight world champion, ladies and gentlemen.
