Spanish super featherweight champion Jon Fernandez, takes an important step in his career, contesting the vacant WBC silver super featherweight title at the Pavilion La Casilla de Bilbao.
Just a few days after having turned 22, Jon (13-0, 11 KO’s) fights also unbeaten Russian Alexander Podolsky (9-0, 3 KO), on September 29th.
“It’s an important title. The Silver belt will open up a great opportunity for Jon. We have absolute confidence in him and we know he will give his all. He will prove himself to be one of the best super featherweights. Now we have to be focused on Podolsky who is a dangerous rival, “says Jose Luis Celaya, manager of the Biscayan fighter.
The unbeaten Russian is a very strong and technical boxer who will turn 26 in July. He has already fought in Bilbao, last March he faced and defeated Panamanian Manuel Largacha.
