Mariana “Barby” Juarez totally dominated Australian Susie Ramadan Saturday night before a sold out crowd in the Auditorium Miguel Barragán of San Luis Potosi, to retain the female World Boxing Council female bantamweight title for the sixth time.
The prize was the Special Edition Pink Belt of the World Boxing Council, especially to commemorate the month of combatting breast cancer The Champion dominated from start to finish with her cultured well-educated left hand, and pinpoint accurate combinations, peppering the game, but outclassed Aussie, who was under intense pressure throughout. Susie buckled and almost went down with her back against the ropes, from a thundering left hook to the head, just before the bell ending the eighth round.
One round later Susie was discounted a point by Referee Cristian Curiel for excessive holding. The publically announced open scores in round 4 and 8 were for the Mexican champion, who got stronger and stronger as the bout progressed, while her brave challenger faded.
The final score of the Judges was: 98-91, 100-90 and 99-91, all for Mariana, who dedicated the bout to the memory of her Mother Patricia, who recently died. Mariana was presented with the Pink Belt by WBC Ambassador of Honor and Grace, Lucy Sulaiman. Mariana announced she`s now focusing on a bout against Jackie Nava.
