Born in Bratislava, raised a Rebel in Cork, and now Vladimir Belujsky [1(1)-0-1] is to have a tear-up in Tijuana tomorrow night.

The Mitchelstown super middleweight, along with his Assassin stablemate and Irish champion JJ McDonagh, has travelled across the Atlantic and will box on a Gabriel Quinones-promoted card tomorrow night [Thursday 25th] on the Mexican border city.

After flying to the U.S. West Coast for some training at Freddie Roach’s famous Wildcard Gym in Hollywood, Belujsky and his team have headed to Mexico where he will finally learn the identity of his opponent.

It’s all new for ‘The Slovak Rebel’ who told Irish-Boxing.com how “it’s going to be an unreal experience to box in one of the top boxing countries in the world.”

It’s a step into the unknown for the prospect who explained how “I actually don’t know anything about my opponent – but will find out today at the weigh-in!

“I think the opponent will be tough as Mexicans are known for that but I’ve prepared for this.”

While he will most likely be seen as the ‘opponent’ or even the ‘enemy’, Belujsky believes he will be able to entertain the Mexican crowd, joking how “it depends whether I chose to box or fight – and I love a good fight so they should [be entertained].”

The fight is an early start to the year for Belujsky who got past a debut draw in 2017 with a stunning stoppage of Manny Bique in October just gone.

A regular sparring partner of Chris Eubank Jr, he aims to kick on in 2017 and claim a national title.

Belujsky outlined how “I’m fighting again on the undercard of the Last Man Standing after that I’m hoping to fight in the UK early April and hopefully pick up my first title by the end of the year, whether it’s Slovakian or Irish.”
