As part of the much-anticipated “World Boxing Super Series” Tournament, this Saturday, September 16, unbeaten fighters, Callum Smith (22-0, 17 KO’s) and Sweden’s Erik Skoglund (26-0, 12 KOs) will clash in the quarter-final stage, at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK.
Smith selected Skoglund as his quarterfinal opponent during the Gala Ceremony, held on 8 July at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Skoglund, even though he comes from a heavier division feels great and grateful for the chance to face one of the best super middleweight fighters in the world.
The prestigious Diamond Belt of the World Boxing Council will be on the line, as keen incentive.
“I’m in this sport to gain as many titles as possible and it will be fantastic to win the WBC Diamond belt,” Smith said.
“It’s a real honor to fight for the WBC Diamond belt. I feel even more motivated to win! ” countered Skoglund.
Both fighters, showing great professionalism, presented their pre-weighings 30 and 7 days prior to the bout; as well as all medical examinations required by the WBC, in order to protect the health and well being of fighters.
