SOR POINT FOR CHOCOLATITO

WBC

By WBCboxing.com

WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai says Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez can indeed recover from his devastating KO and continue a successful boxing career.

Smartly attired in a suit and tie at the Champions press Conference at the magnificent Fairmont Hotel, Baku, Azerbaijan the Champ said he was only able to train two months for the first fight against Roman.  But second time around, he devoted double the time to preparing.

The two punches which spelled the end of the Roman Empire, were blazing right hands. Southpaw Srisaket explained that for a number of years at the beginning of his career,
he’d been trained in the orthodox style, before converting to his natural stance, and this has paid dividends.

Very much business orientated, Srisaket says official challenger Juan Francisco Estrada is already very much on his radar screen. He’s been carefully and meticulously studying tapes of the Mexican’s fighting style, and is formulating a strategy for outright victory.

He also said a second fight with Carlos Cuadras is likely, but he’ll take care, not to get cut again, and for it to go to a technical decision,  which meant a very long a hard road back: ” I was extremely happy to win my belt back, and from now on I’ll try my very best to do everything to keep it, as long as possible.

“It was indeed very difficult when I was younger. I used to be a trash collector and a security guard. But I had a dream that I would be able to fight on TV and become a world champion, and I would be happy.

“Being the champion of the WBC changed my life and I’m pleased that more people recognize me.”

As for Roman Gonzalez’s future Srisaket rather surprisingly replied: “I still think Chocolatito is number one pound for pound. I think he should come back and fight. I think he’s still got it. I would like to meet him again and I will win again!”
