SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD OF THE WEEK

The WBC begins a venture to recognize  outstanding sportsmanship,  core values and principles of decency,  which make boxing honorable and exemplary via the ethic of fair play.

The WBC recognizes Sammy Vazquez as the sportsman of the week.  He stood in the center of the ring and praised his opponent Félix Diaz after the correct score was announced,  giving the unanimous decision win to Diaz instead of the originally announced majority draw. The Alabama boxing commission acted in an exemplary manner, swiftly correcting the human error, rectifying the situation there and then,  drawing no complaint.
