There were a good number of noteworthy moments during UFC 205’s co-main event fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson that resulted in a majority draw. One of them is fourth round of action, where “Wonderboy” survived by the skin of his teeth.

It was the round when the champion was able to lock in a tight guillotine choke, in which the challenger had gotten through. According to the judges’ scorecards, only Derek Cleary gave Woodley a 10-8 advantage for the fourth round, while judges Doug Crosby and Glen Trowbridge both scored it a 10-9. Most people favor Cleary’s decision more, and Thompson agrees.

“I’m willing to admit round four was 10-8. For me, it was [me winning] round two, round three, and round five,” Thompson said (via MMA Fighting). “A draw was fair.”

Thompson has not lost via stoppage in both his kickboxing and MMA career, and he was not willing to have one on his record, no matter what happens. It is this never say die mindset that he believes helped him endure what he conceded to as a bad round for him.

“It’s just a matter of not giving up, if you know what I’m saying. No matter how much it hurts, you gotta stay focused on what you’re there for and your goals, just don’t give up. There were a lot of fans there that night and I feel I made a lot of new fans.”

The rematch between Woodley and Thompson is slated as the headliner for UFC 209 on March 4^th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
