Stephen Thompson vs. Darren Till to headline UFC Liverpool

After months of campaigning for a fight with Stephen Thompson, Darren Till’s wish has been granted in his hometown of Liverpool, England.

Till, 25, will take on ‘Wonderboy’ in a headlining welterweight bout at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on May 27.

The UFC confirmed the match-up on Twitter on Thursday.

Till, who is undefeated after seventeen professional fights, hasn’t fought since his first-round dismantling of Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118. That fight took place in October, last year and the Liverpudlian has been calling for a top contenders bout with Thompson ever since.

As for Thompson, the former welterweight title challenger hasn’t fought since his win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 last November, when he cruised to a unanimous decision at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The 35-year-old previously fought reigning welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to a draw at UFC 205 and lost a majority decision in the lackluster rematch at UFC 209.

UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Till takes place on May 27 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.
