Robert Stieglitz: “I’m excited because I haven’t had this title. Of course, it’s an advantage for me to box at home and I hope for the support of the Magdeburg boxing fans. At super middleweight I was long tormented with making weight. Now I have no problem and I’m always in a good mood. I want to win this fight to bring the European light heavyweight title back to Germany. I still lack the European championship belt in my collection.”

Mehdi Amar: “I know Robert Stieglitz very well. He’s a high quality opponent. I respect him, but I’m going to win and keep the title. My battle cry is ‘Victory or Death.’”

SES promoter Ulf Steinforth: “Robert Stieglitz is the flagship of SES. He has fundamentally influenced professional boxing over the last ten years. The European Championship is one of the most prestigious titles. It’s been in existence since 1913. Robert has never boxed for this belt. I’m delighted that he now has the chance to fight for it.”

Stieglitz trainer Dirk Dzemski: “I’m delighted that Robert can box for the Euro title. He’s ready now and on top of his game. I’m sure we’ll win the title here. We don’t underestimate Mehdi Amar, but Robert Stieglitz is too much for him. We’ve been training for six weeks. Robert’s going into the move to light heavyweight with a smile on the scales. He’s only one kilogram over the fighting weight. He can very eat normally and isn’t under the pressure of having to make weight.”

Amar trainer Mourad Haddu: “Robert Stieglitz has a lot of experience, but so has my boxer. They both have two arms and two legs. We’re coming to Germany to retain the title!”
