DAVAO CITY – International Boxing Federation World minimumweight champion Pedro “Kid Pedro Heneral” Taduran of Albay continues with his training despite the New Year season at Sinapangan Sur in Bangar, La Union.

Taduran (14W-2L-1D, 11K0s) did his regular jog in the morning and a one-hour practice at the gym in the afternoon.

But he had no sparring yet since his sparring mate Lito Dante, the reigning Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation minimumweight champion still went home in Manila for the holidays.

“Mga isang oras lang po at ang timbang ko ay okay naman” (Just about an hour and my weight is okay) said the 24-year-old Taduran.

But already he does the punch mitts with Coach Tacy Macalos.

Manager Art Monis, on the other hand, told Taduran to take a one day rest because it is New Year’s Day last Jan. 1.

“Sabi ko nga sa Jan. 1 rest muna, kaso nag insayo na. Sabagay para rin sa kanya yon. (I said that on Jan. 1 rest first, but he still practices. That’s for him also) said Monis.

Monis said that the training continues now that MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons has negotiated the mandatory defense of Taduran.

Taduran will face No. 3 contender Rene Mark Cuarto (18W-2L-2D, 11KOs) of Zamboanga del Norte on Feb. 20 at the Lagao Gym in Gen. Santos City.
