DAVAO CITY – International Boxing Federation World minimumweight champion Pedro “Kid Pedro Heneral” Taduran of Albay will defend his title against Rene Mark Cuarto of Zamboanga del Norte on Feb. 20, 2021, at the Lagao Gym in Gen. Santos City.
The 24-year-old Taduran (14W-2L-1D, 11KOs) settled a technical draw with Daniel Valladares of Mexico in his first title defense held last Feb. 1, 2020, at Jardin Cerveza Expo in Guadalupe.
Taduran won the vacant IBF World minimumweight title by a retirement in the 4th round over Samuel Salva of Iligan last Sept. 7, 2019, at the Jurado Hall of the Philippine Marine Corp in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Cuarto, 24, (18W-2L-2D, 11KOS) on the other hand, stopped Jayson Francisco of Kidapawan City by a TKO in the 5th round last Dec. 15 at Robinson’s Mall Atrium in General Santos City.
He earlier lost his World Boxing Organisation Oriental Minimumweight title to Samuel Salva by a unanimous decision last March 23 at Resorts World Hotel, Newport Performing Arts Theatre in Pasay City.
