Formidable and spectacular former World Boxing Council super featherweight champion, southpaw Takashi Miura (31-4-2, 24 KO’S), 33, promoted by Teiken Boxing Gym, announced on his social networks that he`s hanging up his gloves for good, with the satisfaction of a spectacular all action career.
He commented: “I decided to say goodbye to boxing, after some contemplation. . I have the opportunity to say that I do not regret anything about my boxing career. I was able to fulfill my dream that I had since I was kid, becoming WBC champion. I want to thank all the people who supported me.”
Takashi originally from Akita province moved to Yokohama City to become a professional boxer. In 2013 he was crowned WBC super featherweight world champion. Miura was honoured by the Governor of Akita as “Am Exemplary Citizen,” for the discipline and dedication he`s always shown throughout his career.
Miura was crowned world champion by defeating Mexican Gamaliel “Plátano” Diaz, with a knockout in the ninth round. He retained his crown four times by defeating the Mexicans Sergio “Yeyo” Thompson, Dante “Crazy” Jardón, Edgar “Chananon” Puerta; and Aussie Billy Dib.
Miura was dethroned by the Mexican, Francisco “Bandido” Vargas, in the best fight of 2015.
He then returned fighting an outright war against Mexican Miguel “Mickey” Román, whom he knocked out in twelfth and final stanza.
His last fight was on July 15th at the Forum of Inglewood, California, where he was defeated by decision by WBC super featherweight champion, Yucatecan Miguel “Alacrán” Berchelt in a memorable and gruelling battle.
