Taylor and Han went head to head in Leeds

When Katie Taylor steps into the ring the boxing world celebrates. That’s why this week there will be a big celebration for boxing fans thanks to the return of the Irish World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion to face American Jennifer Han this Saturday.

Leeds, England, will be the venue for this Saturday’s bout and both fighters were face to face at the final press conference before the bout where Taylor will also be defending her IBF, WBC, and WBO belts.

For Taylor it will be special to be in Leeds because it is a city she knows and where she lived great moments in her life.

“Several of my best memories as Mila were when I was visiting Ellan Road. I’m very happy to be here. I’m a big Leeds Utd fan. This is a tough challenge,” said the Olympic champion.

For her part, Han was very motivated ahead of this new world championship opportunity. The American stressed that her goal is to become a world champion again and that this stage is ideal to achieve that goal.

With Wednesday’s public training session and Thursday’s press conference behind her, they will only have to step on the scales on Friday to make the 135 lbs. division. Taylor will be looking to maintain his undefeated record of 18 fights and 6 knockouts, while Han comes into the fight with 18 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 1 knockout.
